WINNING SCORE WILL NO LONGER BE CAPPED AT -3
Click here to see an example of Handicap Calculation
Step 1. For new Players Only
Handicap for new Player = USGA HDCP + 2
OR (if USGA not available)
Best 3 out 10 last rounds (based on their own feedback)
Step 2. Handicap Differential
Handicap differential (for one tournament) = (Adjusted Gross Score using equitable scoring system – course rating) x 113/Slope Rating
Use Slope Rating of 113 if everybody in the money finishes NET in –ve numbers. This is so that the people are not penalized when the course is playing exceptionally easy. This was the case at Raspberry Falls 2012 tournament when we did not play any bunkers and it was lift clean and place through the green.

Step 3. DOST differential handicap
This is what goes into the calculation of DOST handicap
DOST Differential handicap = (handicap differential in step 2) x 0.96
See Reference: http://handicaptracker.golf.com/calculate-handicap.asp
For Step 2 and Step 3
Step 4. DOST Handicap Index
Based on an assumption that we will play 8 tournaments in a year. Two day tournaments = Two rounds
Rounds | Average of the best |
---|---|
1-3 | 1 (including starting handicap) |
1-5 | 2 (including starting handicap) |
1-7 | 3 (including starting handicap) |
1-9 | 4 (including starting handicap) |
1-10 | 5 (including starting handicap) |
>10 | 5 Use last 10 rounds. Ignore scores older than the last 10 rounds. |
We get rid of the scores that are older than 10 rounds. So this only applies to the most recent 10 scores.
We also drop scores that are older than 2 years.
The average above gives us the DOST Handicap Index.
Note:
Starting handicap is considered one of the scores
DOST handicap above 32 will be capped at 32 for tournament participation
Handicap Adjustment for Injury
A player is allowed a manual adjustment based on an injury or temporary disability. Upon request to the handicap committee the handicap of an injured player will be adjust upwards by 2 strokes. This handicap adjustment will be valid for 3 tournaments during a seven tournament period. If a player playing under handicap adjustment shoots under net under par then he will be adjusted by 2 strokes as long as the net score is not in plus.
New Player Rule Adjustment
For the first two tournaments if a new player shoots NET below par his or her score will be adjusted to Even PAR.
Like all players new player handicap will be recalculated for the next tournament (slope adjusted) and cannot exceed the first tournament (starting) handicap.
After the 3rd tournament a player is no longer under the “New Player” rule.
